Mescaline effects are generally felt within minutes of consumption, peaking at two to four hours and lasting for up to eight. During this time, you are likely to see closed-eye visuals of colors and patterns, such as mosaics, arabesques, and spirals. These visuals often transform into more definite objects like architecture, animals, and humans.
Is Rapé Safe?
Kambo is usually used in a group setting, called a Kambo circle or Kambo ceremony. The effects on humans usually include tachycardia, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Peyote’s mescaline content is typically 1-6% by dry weight, tending toward the low-middle part of this range. The mescaline content of San Pedro (T. pachanoi) and Peruvian torch (T. peruvianus) is less in general. In San Pedro, mescaline content is said to range between 0.025% and 2.375% by dry weight, and Peruvian torch has been found to contain up to 0.817% mescaline by dry weight and sometimes none at all. Peyote buttons appear to retain mescaline for an exceptionally long time—potentially even thousands of years. The key is proper storage in cool, dark, dry conditions, ideally in an airtight container.
How to Shrink Fibroids
A small 2019 study found that a specific form of acupuncture called Tung’s 7-point acupuncture protocol may help reduce fibroid symptoms. Nine out of the 14 study participants experienced complete elimination of all fibroid symptoms after 12 weeks of treatment, with no adverse side effects. Eating a nutritious, balanced diet and getting regular physical activity may help improve fibroid symptoms, but there is no evidence to suggest that they can shrink fibroids. If your fibroids are impacting your daily life, your healthcare provider may suggest prescription medications and/or medical procedures to shrink or remove the fibroids. For those in search of a more internal experience, some Ayahuasca retreat centers augment the effects of the experience through silence and isolation between ceremonies.
Far more than a hallucinogenic experience or “trip” shamanic work is an invitation into elevated states of consciousness and a connection to something greater than the everyday human experience. People serve themselves in spiritual clubs in Tulum, in the car on a long drive, on the go between mind-expanding events in Bali, and in other inappropriate ways and settings. I’d never had a meaningful relationship with my Grandparents because of age gaps and health issues. Then I eventually accepted I wouldn’t have a deep and meaningful relationship with the figures because… they were gone. So I embraced this unfillable hole in my heart with as much love and grace as I could muster, genuinely accepting this void would never be filled. Although Kambo is growing in popularity, there are still only a small number of practitioners relative to the global population.

As Rapéh is a tobacco-based product it is also advised to use small amounts to begin with, as larger amounts or ‘flood doses’ can trigger unpleasant feelings of nausea that can last for up to an hour. After mental preparations are complete, pour a small amount (no more than 0.25 grams for beginners) of the dry powdered tobacco into the palm or a folded piece of card and flatten any larger clumps of Rapéh with the long flat side of the Kuripe. Next, scoop half of the Rapéh into the nose end of the pipe and gently tap it with a finger to settle the powder into the Kuripe’s V-shaped elbow. At first glance, the handheld Kuripe may appear confusing with how to use it, many amusingly mistaking the ‘blow’ end for the ‘nostril’ end of the pipe. However, the Rapéh self-application process can be a simple and enjoyable experience when broken down into a step-by-step method used by many Rapéh enthusiasts.
